武蔵七党小野姓横山党矢部[野辺]氏族.神奈川県相模原市中央区淵野辺[相模国高座郡大野村渕辺原]を発祥の地とする.
足利直義[1307-1352]に仕え,後醍醐天皇の皇子で直義の元に幽閉されていた護良親王[1308-1335]を中先代の乱の混乱の中で鎌倉で殺害した淵辺義博[-1335]が知られる.淵辺義博は新田義貞との駿河手越河原の戦いで討ち死にした.
家紋は丸に抱き茗荷など.
