熊本県天草市深海町の深海湾の出入口の脇を本拠としていたことが口脇氏の起源.
明治時代の地引網主として,須崎亀吉・須崎久吉・浦木長郎吉・沖崎光太郎・濱下音松・川崎平吉・浜本重吉・浜本⬜︎三・鶴長民吉と並んで口脇辰造が名を連ねている.
