讃岐直末裔氏族.香川県さぬき市を発祥の地とする.延暦10[791]年,景行天皇皇子の神櫛王の後裔である凡直千継が凡直から讃岐公に改姓.凡直千継の祖先は讃岐国造であり,敏達天皇の時代に紗抜大押[さぬきのおおし]直を賜った.天智天皇の治世の670年には「大押」を「凡」と表記されていた.朝廷においては明法家として活躍.
家紋は丸に隅立て四つ目など.
