藤原北家御子左庶流長家流.羽林家.藤原定家[1162-1241]の子・為家[1198-1275]の晩年の子の為相[1263-1328]を家祖とする.所領相続の訴訟のために鎌倉に下向した事情を綴った冷泉為相の母・阿仏尼による『十六夜日記』が知られる.
