清和源氏流河内源氏系義国流.「まみょうだ」,「まみゅうだ」と読む.栃木県栃木市薗部町と発祥の地とする一族の他あり.
横浜市港北区にある大豆戸は「まめど」と読み,「真間処[ままど]」が起源という[『横浜の町名』].千葉県市川市の「真間」は崖線,土手の崩れ等の意味を持つが,「真間処」も恐らく同じであろう.
