紀伊国名草郡中野村などを発祥の地とする.野辺氏もしくは日野辺氏の一族という.
紀伊国名草郡中野村は1889[明治22]年4月1日に,名草郡向村・次郎丸村・延時村・土入村・梅原村・中村・栄谷村と合併して名草郡貴志村となった.1896[明治29]年3月26日,名草郡と海部郡が統合されて海草郡となる.1942[昭和17]年7月1日には,貴志村は同じ海草郡の楠見村・松江村・木ノ本村とともに和歌山市へと編入.
家紋は立ち澤瀉など.
