清和源氏義康流今川氏族.静岡県湖西市を発祥の地とする名字.今川貞世の子の貞兼が尾崎を称したことが起源.永享5[1433]年に駿河今川氏第5代当主・今川範忠[1408-1461]に叛旗を翻した尾崎伊予守などが知られる.代表的家紋は丸に立ち沢鷹.
