秦氏族.弓月君の末裔の伝承を持つ渡来系氏族.秦の始皇帝の子孫の功満王が仲哀朝に来日.その子の弓月君が帰化したという.『日本書紀』によると百済を故地とする.日本では当初は山城国紀伊郡深草を拠点とし,後に葛野郡太秦へと本拠地を移した.伊奈利社・松尾社を創祀.家紋は双葉葵など.
