中原氏流大友氏族.中原貞教が肥後国飽託郡鹿子木荘[熊本県熊本市北区鹿子木町]の地頭に任ぜられて鹿子木[かのこぎ]と称したことが起源.鹿子木親員[-1549]は隈本城を築城したことで知られる.
