藤原氏族.大分県佐伯地方の名字.茨城県石岡市染谷[常陸国新治郡染谷郷]を発祥の地とする.藤原鎌足の玄孫である時忠の末裔.染谷氏と同族.佐伯家中に染矢内記・染矢新助があったことが知られる.後に,下野村大庄屋に任ぜられた.家紋は丸に桔梗など.
