桓武平氏繁盛流大掾氏族.茨城県潮来市島須字古宿を発祥の地とする.大掾氏一族の行方景幹の子の高幹が行方郡牛堀町島崎に拠って島崎氏を称したことが起源.潮来市島須字古宿に島崎城を築いた.家紋は丸に揚羽蝶,立波など.
