三重県津市河芸町北黒田を発祥の地とする.康正年間[1455-1457]に川瀬宜光が川瀬城[三重県津市河芸町北黒田]を築城したことが知られる.天正17[1589]年,川瀬宗信は織田信雄に攻められ落城.その子・宗光は帰農し岡氏を称したという.家紋は丸に蔦など.
